Breckenridge Overview
Simply put, Breckenridge is a town of superlatives. This charming Victorian-style town is tucked snugly between the Continental Divide and the spectacular Ten Mile Range in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Although it feels remote, the town's 90-mile proximity to Denver makes it easily accessible in an hour and a half drive.
The Breckenridge Ski Area remains the town's biggest draw, with 2,358 acres of sparkling white slopes for all levels of skiers and riders, including 25 acres of heart-pounding terrain parks. Four peaks – aptly named Peaks 7, 8, 9, and 10 – offer a variety of restaurants, and base lodging is conveniently located at the base of Peaks 7, 8, and 9. And now plans are in the works to open up an additional 450 acres of new downhill terrain on Peak 6! The new gondola at Peak 7 connects the ski area with the town center via the Skyway Skiway, making it easy to take a break, enjoy a hot lunch in town, or do a little shopping before hitting the slopes again in the afternoon.
Breckenridge is recognized around the globe for its outstanding attributes, including:
• World-class ski resort with the country's highest chairlift, The Imperial Express
• Incredible scenery
• First-class dining and shopping

As if that weren't enough, Breckenridge boasts over 300 days of sunshine each year with impossibly blue skies rimmed by majestic mountain peaks. And here's a secret shared by lucky residents: most came to ski during the winter and ended up staying because of our beautiful summers! No longer just a winter resort, Breckenridge is truly a year-round destination with a "real" town atmosphere. During the summer, you can choose a different outdoor adventure every day: Hiking, mountain biking, camping, fly fishing, and kayaking are all just moments away.
Breckenridge has remained true to its mining heritage as evidenced by Main Street's colorful Victorian buildings with Colorado's largest Historic District consisting of 249 structures. Costumed guides give visitors a glimpse of life in the late 1800's and early 1900's during walking tours sponsored by the Breckenridge Historical Society.
