Summit County School District offers students excellent academic programs, sports programs, extracurricular activities, and character development. From kindergarten through Grade 12, students are exposed to a wide range of learning environments encompassing every aspect of education, with an emphasis on good citizenship and community leadership. Each student is assessed annually for academic growth and an increase in positive character development behaviors.
Some of the school programs offered include Alternative Education, Dual Language, Gifted, Literacy, Early Childhood Learning, and Special Education. The Summit Youth Services Center staffs doctors and health care professionals in clinics located inside the schools so students can receive faster care and reduce absences due to health reasons.
Outside of the regular classroom schedule, Summit Day Camps provide students with creative before- and after-school experiences in a safe, structured environment. Field trips, art, games, science, and sports are just a few of the activities offered. Summer Day Camps and Days-Off Camps are also provided.
And what many students consider the best part of attending school here: They have the unique advantage of being able to participate in recreational winter activities thanks to Summit Schools’ partnership with Vail Resorts and the Town of Breckenridge. Offerings such as Nordic skiing, ice skating, downhill skiing and racing, swimming, snowboarding, and tele-skiing are taught by professional instructors.
